Finding your balance

Do you have goals?

Do you have a plan to achieve those goals?

Are you making progress towards your goals?

Are you putting in the work?

Last week I reflected on how important it is that we have balance in our lives, that we don’t put ourselves under unnecessary stress and we don’t overcommit. We want to be able to enjoy every aspect of living our best lives!

I’m big into figuring out the right balance at the moment but that doesn’t mean I don’t have goals. I still have health, fitness, career and general life goals that I am striving for every day. I also know that it means I need to have my priorities in check if I am going to be able to achieve them (balance!) I need to spend my time doing the stuff that is most important to me - even if that means saying “no” to some requests or commitments along the way.

For most of us, we have a health & fitness goal that we are actively working towards on a weekly basis. It involves keeping active, training, making smart food choices, keeping alcohol consumption down and getting enough sleep, just for starters. Sometimes we fall into a pattern where we start to cut corners along the way and then feel disappointed when we aren’t where we want to be!

This is where I have found myself recently. I have sat back and tried to be really honest with myself. Truly honest without judgement (which is the hardest part in my opinion!)

Am I doing enough?

Am I putting in the necessary work?

Do I need to refocus my efforts to see the progress I want?

Is this actually a priority for me right now?

Spoiler alert: If the answer to the last question is no, you will not reach your goal! (At least, not in the timescale you’ve set yourself) It’s not compelling enough. You don’t care enough to take the action or make a change. You have other stuff that has become more important. And that’s okay, but be honest with yourself. Otherwise you will continue to spin your wheels, you will continue to find excuses. And you will continue to hide behind those excuses and sabotage your progress.

I definitely experience this myself at times. We all do. So, what’s the solution?

Be honest with yourself. If you truly want it - remember to keep showing up. Continue to put in the effort, learning how to stay the course for longer each time. Keep stepping forward to maintain your focus when the world around you may seem to be spinning out of control. And most of all, commit to continuing to ask the question - do I want this?

If you don’t want it, refocus your energies on what you do want. No one else can decide this for you. It’s about finding YOUR balance for YOUR priorities.

If you want it, get a plan, head down, commit to every aspect of the plan, put in the work and hold yourself accountable. The results you want will follow 💪🏽

It is that simple. If you need support, I am here to chat so let me know🙂
